Interdisciplinarity in ED352
Interdisciplinarity in ED 352
Theses prepared at the interface of physics and a joint discipline are numerous in the laboratories attached to ED352, in particular with chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer science.
These interdisciplinary fields are expandingrapidly, and the ED's role is to support them and provide a coherent and appropriate framework for PhD students who choose to embark on these studies.
The initial profiles of candidates for these doctoral studies combining two disciplines are obviously diverse. When recruiting the doctoral student, the ED ensures that his/her training, experience and motivation are in line with the proposed subject and the ED's registration specialty, and that theskills he/she will acquire are in line with his/her career plan.
The expertise of the thesis supervisor (director and co-director) must cover all the fields of study of the thesis, and each of the disciplines involved. To this end, the ED may interact with the future thesis supervisor.
